Visit Maine Coast Botanical Gardens
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are less than two miles from the Flagship Inn, making them an ideal activity during your stay.
More than just plants, the Maine Coast Botanical Gardens offer visitors a chance to experience the full botanical story of Maine. But the Gardens are more than just flowers! Our 250 acres containing 14 gardens and trails offers a full-sensory experience for adults and children alike!
It's those 250 acres that have allowed the Gardens to be developed into large-scale landscapes and experiences, more like a nature park than a formal garden setting. Our renowned architects create unforgettable surroundings that reflect Maine's geology, history, and topography to create a botanical garden experience unlike any other.

Our 14 gardens and trails offer a wide variety of experiences and activities. From formal gardens to native forest, the Maine Coast Botanical Gardens offers something for everyone.
If you enjoy more formal, strictly-planned designs, the Rose and Perennial Garden and Great Lawn and Ledge Garden are for you. These gardens are similar to those you might find on a home estate.
Want a hands-on experience? Try the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses or the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children's Garden. These gardens tickle much more than the eyes and nose, and the Children's Garden is truly interactive!
Do you enjoy walks in the woods and short hikes? Then you need to explore the Shoreland Trail and the Huckleberry Cove Trail and Jeffords Preserve. These trails cover much of the outlying natural acres of our beautiful grounds.
Along the pathways of the grounds, you will find several hillside and woodland-type gardens, and you can even stop to reflect a while in the Vayo Meditation Garden.
Sculptures, artwork, and water features can be discovered throughout the Gardens and in the Visitor's Center, completing the artistic perfection of each and every area!
Complete your experience by having a bite to eat in the Kitchen Garden Cafe, where they offer the best local fare and even use the bounty of the Burpee Kitchen Garden, just outside the Cafe.
Planning an event or a destination wedding or event? Individual gardens can be rented for weddings, a small reception or event can be held in the Kitchen Garden Cafe and Terrace, and larger gatherings can be held in the Cleaver Event Lawn & Garden!
At the Maine Coast Botanical Gardens, you can spend a short time seeing select gardens, or spend the day exploring the grounds and the beautiful sights, sounds, smells, and atmosphere there.
"Great place to stay!"
